Last month was a big month for Neighborhood Sharks. Not only did the book win a John Burroughs Riverby Award for Young Readers, it was also named as a finalist for the Eighth Annual Children’s Choice Awards for Debut Author!!
Every year the Children’s Book Council and the Every Child a Reader announce their annual Children’s Choice Book Awards, the only national book awards program where the winning titles are selected by kids and teens. This year the committee named Neighborhood Sharks as one of five finalists in the category of “Children’s Choice Debut Author,” and as you can imagine I could hardly be more pleased! Young readers across the country will determine the winners by voting online between Tuesday, March 17th through Sunday, May 3rd. If you know a kid (especially a shark-loving one!) who’d like to cast their vote, please visit http://ccbookawards.com/ this week and follow the signs to a door marked “K-2nd GRADE,” “3rd-4th GRADE,” or “5th-6th GRADE” and find Neighborhood Sharks on the Children’s Choice Debut Author shelf:
