Happy August, and HELLO elephant books!
First of all, a huge THANK YOU to those of you who entered my Shark Week giveaway last month! It was such a big success and went so far beyond my expectations that I decided to select two winners instead of just one. Congratulations to Janeth C. and Laura B.—I hope you both enjoy the print from Neighborhood Sharks!
Secondly, for the first time ever I’ve launched a brand new online shop to try selling prints of my work, and from now until August 31 only the shark print from the giveaway will be on sale for just $25. Go to http://katherineroy.bigcartel.com/ to order it today!
Lastly, a few weeks ago my first finished copies of How to Be an Elephant arrived at my door—an early gift from my publisher ahead of the official release for the book. As with Neighborhood Sharks, I was giddy with excitement, but this time instead of having an on-the-spot launch party with my UPS guy in the stairwell, I got to celebrate with my husband and toddler on the steps of our new front porch. I unwrapped the ribbon and handed a copy to my son, who made the sign for “elephant” and said “Mama!” when he saw my photo in the back. I’m relieved, delighted and slightly terrified that the books will be hitting shelves across the country in just five weeks; with Horn Book’s upcoming starred review (bringing the count to FOUR starred reviews to date—wow wow wow!), I can only hope that my readers will fall in love with Elephant the way they fell in love with Sharks.
Details on my upcoming launch parties and signing events are now available over at my events page. Stay tuned for more appearances over the coming weeks. Thanks for reading, and talk soon!
